PRESS RELEASE FORMATION of the America-Kurdistan Friendship League –AKFL June 22, 2007 The America-Kurdistan Friendship League (AKFL) was formed earlier this year as a result of a meeting between individual Americans and Kurds in Iraqi Kurdistan. We, the undersigned, are pleased to announce the formal establishment of the America-Kurdistan Friendship League (AKFL), to promote friendship and the exchange of cultural, educational, and commercial relations between the American people and the people of Kurdistan.The mission of the AKFL is to provide Americans with a comprehensive understanding of Kurdish life, and living. To develop personal relationships and long-term cultural cross-fertilization between the two societies, with the hope of providing Kurds with best of American values, and enhance democratic, and civil institutions that would bring Kurdistan in closer partnership with the WestAKFL board of directors is in formation, and will include members of the U.S. Congress, civic, business, and religious, as will as prominent figures from the academic world.
